Pregnant mum injured after refused bus seat

LETTER OF THE DAY: I was very distressed to hear that my very pregnant daughter-in-law took a bus in Toowoomba with her one-year-old daughter and no one gave up their seat for her.

When the one-year-old slid and fell on the bus, she was left trying to pick her up and keep her own feet and in lunging forward injured herself.

She was left shocked and hurt her stomach and no one helped.

Where is chivalry? I see that things have not changed as the same thing happened to me over 30 years ago when catching trains to work heavily pregnant.

I was not so lucky - my baby died, not attributed to such carelessness, but it certainly didn't help.

Can anyone think of the strain on a woman's body to be heavily pregnant, often emotional and in need of nurturing.

Where is basic humanity?

Get up! and give the mother a seat! our children are the future
