Teacher wrestles bow from student at high school

1.30pm: ENQUIRIES into the location of the student and the circumstances surrounding this morning's incident at Woolgoolga High School are continuing.

Shortly after 8.30am students reported to the office that a male student had a bow and arrows on the school grounds.

A teacher confronted a 16 year-old student in the playground about the allegations.

The youth allegedly grabbed the hidden bow and arrows; the bow was successfully wrestled free by the teacher.

The student ran from the school, with the arrows, and hasn't been seen since.

10.00am: STUDENTS at Woolgoolga High School are safe.

The school's office wouldn't make any comment in relation to this morning's incident but  the school is operating as normal.

It's believed police are yet to locate the young person but are still searching the area near the school as well as well as the student's registered address.

9.00am: POLICE have been called to investigate an incident at Woolgoolga High School this morning where a student has allegedly armed himself with a bow and metal tipped arrows and threatened people on school grounds.

It is understood staff at the school have disarmed the youth however he fled on foot and officers are currently conducting a search of the immediate area.

No one has been injured in the incident however concerns are held for the student's welfare.

Police were called to the school around 8.30am.

There are no further details available at this time.
