Man's ashes found by dog on beach sparks search for family
SHAELA McRae walked her dog along the beach yesterday morning, but what her dog found shocked her.
They were heading towards Cotton Tree from Alexandra Headland.
"It was near the sandbags, at the rivermouth on the beach near Cotton Tree Caravan Park," she explained.
"The dog went sniffing there - and there was a plaque saying 'in loving memory' on the beach.
"The box is about half the size of a shoebox."
The box, reading "In loving memory, John A. Flood, 8/4/1990, age 46, In God's Care", appeared to be one for cremated ashes.
Ms McRae said she is keen to track down anyone looking for their missing family member or friend, so much so she even tried cold-calling without any luck yesterday.
If that's you, email her at email@example.com.
