Strikeforce probes home invasion

POLICE have renewed their call for information following a violent home invasion at Palmers Island on the north coast last year.

Coffs Clarence officers were called to River Rd, after reports five males had smashed their way into a home, on Sunday, May 29 about 6.15pm.

It's alleged the men smashed their way into the home and assaulted two occupants, a 51-year-old man and 17 year-old girl.

The offenders stole an amount of cash before leaving in a waiting vehicle, described as a white sedan.

As a result of the home invasion, the 51-year-old man was admitted to hospital suffering grievous bodily injuries.

Strike Force Sharon, comprising officers from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command, was formed to investigate the home invasion.

Investigators have re-issued a computer-generated image of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of a dark complexion, medium build with a short black "Afro" style hair cut and goatee beard.

Police are also particularly keen to hear from a member of the public who originally came forward and contacted Crime Stoppers with information about the home invasion last year.

Any member of the public with information about the home invasion or the man depicted in the computerised image is asked to contact Grafton Detectives on (02) 6642 0222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
