MELBOURNE Storm centre Maurice Blair has been charged with unlawful assault following an alleged incident on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.
It is alleged that the former Maryborough resident pushed a woman over outside a Gold Coast nightclub.
According to a police statement, Blair and teammate Sisa Waqa were arrested at 5am outside the venue.
Blair had made his first appearance of the season in the Storm's win over the Titans at Skilled Park and the club say they are investigating the incident and have informed the National Rugby League of the situation.
The 27-year-old, who joined the Storm last year from Penrith, was fined during his spell with the Panthers in 2010, for an incident at a hotel with former teammate Brad Tighe.
Melbourne said in a statement they were treating the matter very seriously and cooperating fully with the authorities as they conduct their investigations.
Blair played for Rovers and Wallaroos in the Heritage City before joining the Panthers.
He was a member of the Wallaroos team that won the Bundaberg Rugby League 2003 A-grade premiership.
