Stay safe, protect the environment while four-wheel driving

FOUR-WHEEL drive enthusiasts are reminded that permits are required to access Seven Mile Beach at Lennox Head.

A new automated kiosk has been installed opposite the Lennox Head Surf Club approaching Camp Drewe Rd, with payment by credit or debit cards.

One day permits cost $10, with 30-day permits costing $30 and six-month permits costing $45. An annual permit costs $75.

The speed limit on Seven Mile beach is 30km/h, but drivers are urged to slow down to 15km/h when within 50m of pedestrians and other beach users.

Four-wheel drives are not permitted on frontal dunes or foreshore areas other than the designated access point.

On-the-spot fines of up to $1100 can be issued for breaches of Ballina Shire Council's 4WD Vehicles on Seven Mile Beach Policy.

The aim of the policy is to ensure the safety of all beach users and protect the environment.
