State of Origin sets 2015 television ratings records

THE Maroons' one-point victory over the Blues last night was the highest rating TV event of the year so far.

Cooper Cronk kicked the winning field goal in the tightly-contested first game of this year's State of Origin series.

A peak national audience of 4.209 million viewers (including 1.45 million regional viewers) tuned in to the game, making it the highest rating show of the year.

State of Origin: help me, I'm turning into my mum

The most-watched Origin match since OzTam ratings began, though, is still last year's game when the Blues triumphed over the Maroons for the first time in eight years.

Last night's fast-paced game out-rated the ICC World Cup final and the recent My Kitchen Rules and The Block Triple Threat grand finals.
