Squash could be new sport to feature at 2020 Olympics

THE International Olympic Committee has shortlisted wrestling, squash and baseball/softball for inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games.

The sports were selected by secret ballot from eight candidates which also included karate, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and wushu (a form of Chinese martial arts).

The IOC voted in February to drop wrestling after the 2016 Rio Games, arguing it had failed to modernise, had complex rules and allowed little room for participation by women.

The full IOC membership will vote in September on which sport gets added.
