Government shoots down bid to fund Ballina sports centre
A MOTION to use State Government funding to build a multi-purpose indoor sports centre in Ballina was defeated in parliament yesterday.
Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham put forward the motion saying Ballina was the only town of its size in New South Wales that does not have a multi-court indoor sporting facility.
"The Greens moved this motion to put the issue on the political agenda," Mr Buckingham said.
"It is disappointing the government opposed the motion and continues to drag its feet on this issue."
