So excited to call Australia home they made a film about it
WHEN Andrew Mennie and Melanie Curran left the cold of Ireland for the sand and surf of Byron Bay they were so excited they made a little movie about it.
"Needless to say we are loving our new life here!" Andrew said.
The three minute film, named 2 Down, combines footage of Ireland and the Northern Rivers.
Andrew describes it as "a story about us moving from our home in Northern Ireland to a new life in Northern New South Wales, Australia - our new home".
Melanie did the filming with aerial footage recorded by Gary McCall. The video also includes music by Axis Of.
The video starts in black and white, and shows Andrew and Melanie stomping forlornly through the snow with their surfboards, before transitioning to colour once the couple move to Australia.
Now it's in the running for a $5000 prize through a competition on the Coastalwatch surf blog, sponsored by the Corona beer company.
The competition is being judged by surfing film maker Taylor Steele and is supported by popular votes from viewers.
If you like the film and would like to support our new Northern Rivers residents, head over to Coastalwatch's competition page and vote for them.
