Snakes alive! Laundry light brings surprise guest

IT"S enough to make you dread doing the laundry.

Townsville man Sennan Lagaluga, 34, went to put his washing out on Sunday morning when he discovered a new housemate had come in to escape the cold.

Mr Lagaluga posted the photo on Reddit this week with the caption "Left the laundry light on. Had a new housemate in the morning."

"I loaded the machine and went to reach for the detergent and got a nice little surprise," he told APN by email.

"My heart skipped a beat until I realised what species it was (coastal python) and it was harmless.

"I had left the laundry light on so I imagine it was seeking warmth from the cooler weather.

"My brother owns a much larger coastal which I have been comfortable handling so I gently picked it up and walked across the road to the park and let it go up a tree.

"If it was a species I didn't recognise I would have called a snake handler for removal straight away.

"Funny thing is I own two cats that didn't even flinch when they saw it."
