LORRAINE Wilsons's brother Eric sat quietly in the court gallery listening intently to those giving evidence at the inquiry into the deaths of his sister and her friend Wendy Evans.

Mr Wilson wrote a book, "The Echo of Silent Screams", on the disappearance and murders of the two nurses, as a cathartic attempt to get through the haunting that engulfed him after his sister's death.

He has lived through the family tragedy, but was keen to attend this inquiry in the hope of fitting even more pieces of the puzzle together.

"It's not that difficult to listen to and I think it's great that so many people have come here today," Mr Wilson said.

"The public deserve answers too.

"It's unfortunate that the taped evidence (police interview played to the court) didn't play properly and we couldn't hear it.

"That's vital evidence, but they said they were going to get a transcript done."

Mr Wilson said he was most interested in the evidence given by retired policeman Ian Hamilton who responded to a report of screams in bushland on the Toowoomba Range on the night it is believed the women were murdered.

"He was a very credible witness," Mr Wilson said.

"That was hard to listen to because that was my sister and her friend they were talking about."

Mr Wilson said he had mentally prepared himself to face the "persons of interest" to be called to give evidence at the inquiry later this week.
