THIS week I will be featuring the most beautiful Gallardo I've ever seen, the 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Edizione Tecnica.
This stunning machine is equipped with a 5.2-litre, 40 valve 10-cylinder engine which can produce up to 419 kilowatts (570 horsepower) at 8000rpm and 540 Newton metres of torque (397 pound-feet of torque) at 6500rpm.
Partnered to the engine is a six-speed automated-manual transmission, which then sends all the power to all-four wheels. In Lamborghini terms, the gearbox is classified as an 'E-gear transmission', which is a robotized sequential system which automatically engages and disengages the clutch. You can also control the gearshifts by the paddles on the shifting column behind the steering wheel.
This particular Edizione Tecnica model also has a kerb weight of 1430 kilograms (3,146 pounds), which is exactly 100 kilograms (220 pounds) lighter than the standard Gallardo LP560-4.
Lamborghini reduced the weight of this Gallardo by putting it on a diet of carbon fibre and polycarbonate. They used carbon fibre extensively on the interior and exterior, and they used polycarbonate on the side windows, rear window and on the transparent engine bonnet. Also, to save the tiniest bit of weight, they even used titanium wheel nuts.
All of that means this Lamborghini can launch from 0-100kmh in just 3.4 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 325kmh (202 miles per hour). This makes it the quickest and fastest Gallardo that Lamborghini have ever produced.
This particular Gallardo is equipped with sports suspension and carbon fibre sport seats, which many reviewers say are very hard and uncomfortable, and that the ride is terrible in traffic. I would have to disagree with them, as I personally think that the ride is amazing for a Lamborghini.
It's no Rolls Royce, but for a 570 horsepower supercar I think it's excellent.
Also, the sports seats really hold you in when going around corners, and are very supportive when accelerating.
The extraordinary colour on this Superleggera is Nero Nemesis (matte-black), with a touch of Verde Ithaca on the brake calipers, rear Lamborghini logo and on the number plate. It would have to be one of the best, if not the best colour combo I've ever seen on a car.
Some other features that this particular Lamborghini is equipped with includes 19-inch, 10-spoke forged aluminium wheels wrapped in Pirelli P ZERO Corsa performance tyres, variable intermittent wipers, a carbon fibre rear diffuser and spoiler as well as carbon fibre mirrors, a front lifting system for speed bumps, long driveways and potholes at low speeds, a front and rear stabilizer bar, four-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, front seat belt pretensioners, electronic brake force distribution, a full alcantara interior, the interior chrome and carbon package, dual-zone climate controls for the driver and passenger and much more.
You can currently buy a brand-new 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Edizione Tecnica for a base price of $624,000 without options.
