TOP-SELLING popstars Jessica Mauboy and Stan Walker are heading to Rockhampton and will perform together in the climax to the revamped and rescheduled Rockhampton Show.

The pair, whose duet Galaxy was an iTunes top 10 hit last year, were last night unveiled as the headline act show organisers had been seeking to boost the event's appeal to teenagers.

They will star in a concert at Rockhampton Showgrounds on Sunday, June 10, and will perform their own hits and an exclusive set of duets.

Councillor Graeme Brady, chairman of the show advisory committee, said he hoped the high profile duo would be a big drawcard for the final day of the show.

"Jessica Mauboy and Stan Walker are very popular with a wide range of age groups, but particularly the young," he said.

"The concert won't cost any extra - it's included in your admission ticket for the show that day."

The Rockhampton Regional Council announced last month it would use a cash windfall generated by attendance at Beef Australia in May to bring a star attraction to the annual show, which will be held over the Queen's Birthday weekend for the first time.

The council said it would spend up to $65,000 to attract a crowd-pleasing act to bring the show to a close.

The announcement brings to an end speculation about who that would be.
