Shonee wins plenty

SANTA is much happier now.

And so is Ballina’s Shonee McCoy.

The 14-year-old from Ballina tracked down all nine of Santa’s reindeer to win the draw in the Ballina Chamber of Commerce’s Reindeer Hunt.

He said it took him about 10 minutes to find all the reindeer in participating businesses in the CBD.

And this week he was handed two sacks full of goodies for his prize. The sacks contained a football, soccer ball, clock, sunhat, jewellery, camping stove, t-shirt, DVD, thongs, gift vouchers and a dog wash voucher – plus more.

Shoppers had to spot nine of Santa’s reindeer in participating business in the CBD in the Reindeer Hunt, and write where they found them on an entry form.

Chamber executive officer Nadia Elliot-Burgess was impressed with the number of entries – there were 189 all up.

Youngsters in the CBD last Thursday weren’t so interested in the prize for the first correct entry drawn – Santa was in town and giving out lollies to children who had gathered in front of Retravision.

And, to add to the excitement, the jolly fellow in red arrived in a fire engine.

There was time for children to have a photo with Santa, and then get on board the fire truck, too.
