Shire surfers do well at regionals

THE results of the Surfing Far North Coast Regional Titles are in and Ballina Shire surfers have performed well.


In the overall placing for the juniors over three rounds, Lennox Head’s Zac Wightman is the regional champion of the 14 Boys, Jake Snellgrove was 5th, Rhys Tatum 6th, Regan Martinovich 8th, Zac Condon 9th, Luke Condon 12th and Jack Murray 13th.


In the 16 Boys, Michael Wright finished runner-up, Sam Morgan 7th and Dan Hoskin was 10th.


The 18 Boys saw Niki Hoskin in 3rd, Mackie Walker 4th and Tom Snellgrove 7th.


While only surfing one event, Shannon Mackie finished in 13th and Angus Steeles in 14th.


Stephanie Single was runner-up in the 16 Girls.


FNC team


The Surfing FNC team for the NSW Junior State Titles will consist of Ballina Shire surfers Zac Wightman, Michael Wright, Sam Morgan, Niki Hoskin, Mackie Walker, Tom Snellgrove and Stephanie Single.


Le-Ba’s president


Lennox Head’s Jonny Hewett is the new president of the Lennox-Ballina Boardriders, voted in at the 2010 AGM.


Hewett, who was the president several years ago, is taking over from Rod Steeles from Ballina.


Vice-president is Travis Bristow.


The next club rounds are on the weekend of June 5-6.
