One dead in crash on Bangalow Road

UPDATE 12.30pm: A BOOYONG woman has died in a serious head-on crash on Bangalow Rd at Howards Grass.

Lismore police Inspector Matt Kehoe said emergency services were called to Bangalow Rd, just east of Howards Grass Rd just after 11am following reports of a serious crash.

Insp Kehoe said when police arrived at the scene they found a blue Nissan ute and a green Hyundai i30 station wagon on opposite sides of Bangalow Rd.

"A 55-year-old woman we believe is from Booyong, who was the front seat passenger, was trapped in the Hyundai and has died at the scene," he said.

"The male drivers from both vehicles were taken to Lismore Base Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

"It's believed one of the drivers may have a broken sternum.

Insp Kehoe said Bangalow Rd is closed in both directions and will not be reopened for a number of hours.

"Diversions are in place at Boatharbour Rd and Donnans Rd."

"The Ballina crash investigation unit is in attendance and investigators are examining the scene."

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

 

UPDATE 11.44am: POLICE have confirmed that one person has died in a serious two car crash on Bangalow Road just east of Howards Grass Rd. 

 

UPDATE 11.25am: POLICE rescue and emergency services are on the scene of a serious two car crash on Bangalow Rd, just east of Howards Grass Rd.

An Ambulance NSW spokesman said paramedics were on the scene assessing three patients.

At this stage their ages and sex is unknown.

 

INITIAL REPORT: THERE are reports of a serious car crash on Bangalow Road near Howards Grass Road.

Emergency Services are on the scene.
