St Stephen's Hospital boss Leanne Tones leaves suddenly

NEW leadership will be found for St Stephen's Hospital after the sudden departure of general manager Leanne Tones.

Ms Tones left the organisation last Wednesday after a series of discussions with Uniting Care Health bosses.

With the new $87.5 million private digital hospital just four months from completion, former Sunshine Coast Private Hospital general manager Terence Seymour has been appointed as an interim manager.

Mr Seymour said getting a permanent replacement for Ms Tones was top priority, and several candidates were already being canvassed.

"Leanne was a very committed and professional general manager... and made many positive contributions to St Stephen's and the new hospital," Mr Seymour said.

"She was a fantastic colleague and we wish her well."

The change of leadership will not delay construction of the $87.5 million private hospital in Hervey Bay, which will be completed in mid-September.

Mr Seymour said the project was running to schedule and to budget, and would treat its first patients in October.
