Scorchers teammate thrilled by Johnson's arrival

CRICKET: All-rounder Ashton Turner can't wait to see new teammate Mitchell Johnson let it rip for the Perth Scorchers in this year's Big Bash League.

The fast bowler, 34, retired from international cricket 12 months ago as Australia's fourth-leading Test wicket-taker (313), but is resurrecting his domestic career with the Scorchers.

"It's a lot better than having to face him in the nets,” Turner told cricket.com.au of the prospect of playing with Johnson.

"It would be nice to be able to run out next to him. I know he's had a big focus on just having fun and enjoying his time with us.

"He just brings a wealth of experience. He's an absolute superstar and we're all really excited to have him.

"Having him in the dressing room and at training, everyone's just trying to learn so much off him.”

Perth will start its BBL06 campaign against the Adelaide Strikers at home on December 23.

Ian Bell has also arrived at the Scorchers, joining fellow Englishman David Willey as an import.
