Say it loud, say it proud we’ve landed in Ballina not Byron
I WAS on a Virgin flight from Sydney to Ballina recently and on landing a flight attendant made the announcement "Welcome to Byron Bay".
As I left the aircraft I told the same flight attendant that if these jets ever landed at Byron Bay in my lifetime I would shout the crew an overseas holiday.
She looked at me dumbfounded and obviously didn't get it.
Why do these airlines insist on using 'spin' to try and transform Ballina to Byron Bay?
Maybe Ballina Council should change the sign on the terminal building from 'Welcome to the Northern Rivers' to 'Welcome to Ballina'.
There's nothing to be ashamed of.
