Ballina Salvos Family Store on the move after 16 years
AFTER trading for more than 16 years in Ballina's Centre Arcade, the Salvation Army's Family Store is on the move.
The shop's last trading day in the Tamar St arcade will be October 30, and a barbecue will be held on that day.
"This is a day of celebration to remember what the store has contributed to the community," said store manager Luke Wilson.
The Family Store is the last tenant in the Ballina Shire Council-owned building.
The building is earmarked for demolition to make way for a new CBD car park.
The store will be moving to 1/53 River St, Ballina, which is the former Eagle Boys Pizza property, across the road from Little Woolies.
But the Salvos won't be moving into their new shop until mid-November when refurbishment is completed.
Mr Wilson said the Salvos would still have a store in Ballina while the move was being finalised.
