Brisbane dad scoops $40m Powerball pool

A BRISBANE father in his 30s has scooped the entire first division Powerball prize pool of $40 million overnight.

A Golden Casket official said the news was greeted with "stunned silence" when the man was first told.

"That's cool!" the now multi-millionaire eventually said.

The regular Powerball player, who  who chose to stay anonymous, said despite winning $40 million he wasn't going to go on a spending spree.

"We'll take our time and do the right thing with this prize money.  We're going to look after everyone that's close to us!"

The winning PowerHit40 entry was purchased online via Tatts.com.

By playing a PowerHit entry, the winner was guaranteed the winning Powerball number and he won an additional $429,365.80 in divisional prizes, for a total of $40,429,365.80.

This is the second time this year the Powerball jackpot has been won by a single entry from Queensland.

In February, an Innisfail woman won the $6 million division one prize pool with a 12-game QuickPick ticket.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 934 on Thursday 10 April, 2014 were 36, 38, 21, 39, 29 and 22. The Powerball was 12.

Powerball will offer a $3 million division one prize next Thursday, while Oz Lotto has jackpotted to $15 million for Tuesday's draw!
