Russell Crowe commemorates Anzac Day in Coffs Harbour

RUSSELL Crowe marked Anzac Day by turning out for the dawn service in Coffs Harbour this morning.

Posing for photos after the ceremony he turned to Twitter to comment on the showing.

"Very nice dawn service at Coffs Harbour, thousands turned out from little babies to great grandparents, great to see."

Russell was joined by key players in Australian film.

With him were Troy Lum from Hopscotch Films, cinematographer Andrew Lesnie who won an Academy Award for the Lord of the Rings, Russell's production partner Keith Rodger and Andrew Mason, the producer of the Matrix Trilogy.

The appearance at the Anzac Day service came after an eventful day on the Crowe family farm this week, which saw a truck roll into a dam after a handbrake gave way.

"What a morning farm staffer jumps out of truck, top of the hill, handbrake fails, truck careers through a fence, 300 metres into a dam," Russell posted on his Twitter account.

"Brother (Terry) arrives with the John Deere, gets in freezing dam to hook up the truck, beautiful job retrieving the submarine.

"Youngest announces best day on the farm ever .... no one hurt only pride. Told old mate 'days like this'll get you a new nickname.'

It is understood Russell is meeting with the film team at Nana Glen this week to discuss an upcoming project.
