FORMER prime minister Kevin Rudd had a simple request for Labor MPs on Wednesday - "pull your heads in".

Mr Rudd's intervention came after party discipline broke down on Tuesday in the face of a string of disastrous polls for the government.

The member for Griffith, who on current polling could be the only lower house Labor MP left in Queensland, spoke very briefly to reporters as he arrived at Parliament House.

"I think it's time everyone, and I mean everyone, just pulled their heads in," Mr Rudd said, adding it was time for his colleagues to focus on winning the September 14 poll.
