Kevin Rudd to take stand at Royal Commission
FORMER Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will be one of several former Labor figures to take the stand at the Royal Commission into the Home Insulation program over the next three weeks.
A draft schedule of hearings for the Abbott Government-ordered probe of the Labor scheme shows Mr Rudd, former Ministers Peter Garrett and Greg Combet and former Labor powerbroker Mark Arbib will be in the witness box during budget week.
The list also reveals senior government bureaucrats, including Department of Industry secretary Glenys Beauchamp, Immigration Department secretary Martin Bowles and former Rudd economic advisor Andrew Charlton will also speak to the Commission.
Under the schedule, the Royal Commission has also allotted a full day to hear from families affected by the scheme, likely those who lost sons and brothers who died while installing the insulation under the program.
