AUSSIE Sam Stosur will play Kristina Mladenovic for the first time when the pair meet in the second round of the French Open.

The 20-year-old Mladenovic beat unseeded American teenager Lauren Davis 6-0 7-5 in her first round match, while Stosur said she wasn't looking beyond the next match after downing Japan's Kimiko Date-Krumm 6-0 6-2.

"The first hurdle is done, but there are many, many more ahead of me," the Australian No.9 seed said.

"I certainly don't get ahead of myself. I've played enough tournaments to know you can't look at the draw and pencil yourself into a final."
