Roar star shocked by FIFA award win

BRISBANE Roar goalkeeper Nadine Angerer admits she is still coming to terms with her FIFA award win.

The Ballon d'Or winner (pictured) touched down in Brisbane in the early hours of yesterday morning.

She admitted she still couldn't believe her triumph at football's Zurich headquarters earlier in the week when she was named the world's best female player.

But her attention has now shifted to re-joining her club teammates at training this afternoon to prepare for Sunday's W-League away match against Sydney FC.

"I have two days to recover and get ready," Angerer said.

"I'm so proud of my teammates and I got so many congratulatory SMSs and messages while I was away."

Angerer, 35, also said she did her best to spread the word about Brisbane and the ever-improving W-League while she was in Europe.

The German's carer includes a record 127 caps for her country over 17 years.
