TRIES flowed and tears flowed as the small Pacific Island nation of Fiji celebrated its first ever Olympic gold medal in Rio.

Emotional scenes broke out across the field at Deodoro Stadium as Fiji were crowned sevens champions with an emphatic 43-7 win over Great Britain.

Great Britain simply had no answer to the awesome Islanders who broke into song to celebrate one of their countries greatest sporting achievements.

The Fijians were absolutely ruthless scoring five first half to lead 29-0

South Africa, who eliminated Australia from the medal round, earlier won the bronze with thrashing Japan 54-14 victory over Japan
