RIO 2016: Boomers get win over Serbia
BASKETBALL: Australia's NBA stars, Patty Mills and Matthew Dellavedova have led the team to a second victory in Rio.
The two guards combined for 49 points as the Boomers defeated Serbia 95-80.
San Antonio's Mills hit 26 points, while Dellavedova, who won the NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers this year, scored 23 points and had nine assists as the Aussies warmed up for the much-anticipated clash with the USA on Thursday.
The result was not as clear-cut as it might appear with the Aussies only pulling away in the closing stages, scoring 11 unanswered points in the last two minutes.
Australia is now favourite to finish in the top two in Group A behind the Americans following this victory and the first-up win over France.
New Dallas Mavericks centre Andrew Bogut picked up three fouls before half-time and was handed his fourth early in the final term.
He was sat on the bench for a lot of the final quarter, but Aron Baynes stepped up in defence and attack, scoring 10 points.
Miroslav Raduljica top-scored for Serbia with 25 points and captain Milos Teodosic had 17.
