Reid all about it as Pies look to bring Ben back

AFL: Desperate times call for desperate measures.

So despite having not played a senior game for almost 12 months, Collingwood defender Ben Reid could find himself in the Magpies backline for tomorrow night's must-win match against Carlton at the MCG.

Collingwood has dropped from fourth to 11th on the back of six consecutive losses, and coach Nathan Buckley said selectors would base their decision to recall Reid (pictured) on whether they thought he could make it through the season.

"Our first port of call is making sure he is robust and able to play multiple games and stand up to the rigours of the rest of the season, not just the one game," Buckley said.

"He hasn't played football for a long time, so when we pull the trigger on him we would expect him to bring competitiveness and play his role, not unlike anyone else."

Carlton has also had a horror run, losing its past five games.
