Rabbitohs sweat over injuries to key players

SOUTH Sydney captain John Sutton is keeping his fingers crossed halves Adam Reynolds (knee) and Dylan Walker (hamstring) will recover in time to play in Thursday's NRL season opener against the Roosters.

Sutton has spent the off-season training at lock, with Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire looking to play Reynolds and boom youngster Luke Keary in the halves this season.

But Walker, who played in the centres last season, lined up at five-eighth in last month's Charity Shield match against the Dragons after Keary sustained a torn pectoral muscle in the Auckland Nines.

Speaking to reporters at training yesterday, Sutton (pictured) said Reynolds and Walker had trained well on Saturday.

"They should be sweet, but I'm not too sure… we'll just see how we go at training the next couple of days," Sutton said.
