Rabbitohs caught on the hop by Titans
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Titans went against predictions and downed the Rabbitohs 14-10 at Sydney's ANZ Stadium last night.
History was against the Gold Coast side as the last time it defeated South Sydney in Sydney was a 19-18 victory in Round 2, 2010.
Even with Origin players Greg Inglis and Ben Te'o away in camp the Rabbitohs were expected to take the points at home.
But the Titans had other ideas, fighting back from an 8-4 half-time deficit to level the scores 8-8 in the second half before the Rabbits again skipped ahead 10-8 after a penalty.
It was then a tit-for-tat battle before Kevin Gordon broke the hearts of the Rabbitohs faithful as he went over for a try in the 68 minute. He converted and the Titans hung on for victory.
It seemed the Titans have had two weeks to get over their one-point loss to the Dragons in Round 15 and also won't have forgotten the 40-18 thumping the Rabbitohs dished out at Cbus Super Stadium back in Round 9.
The Titans victory was a good way to mark back-rower Mark Minichiello's 250th game, he and Anthony are now just one of three sets of brothers to each play at least 250 top grade games. The other two are Steve and Chris Mortimer, and Steve and Kevin Walters.
