Proctor on track for Titans season-opener

RUGBY LEAGUE: Titans recruit Kevin Proctor is on track to play in Gold Coast's NRL season-opener after returning to the training track following a knee injury last month.

The Melbourne Storm recruit injured the medial ligament in his knee just a week after reporting to training with his new club and was thought to be racing time to be fit for the opening round clash against the Roosters on March 4.

But Proctor began running on Monday and after starting some gentle lateral movement yesterday, coach Neil Henry hinted he could even line up in the club's final pre-season trial against the Warriors in New Zealand on February 19.

His presence would be a welcome boost for the Titans, who also have outside backs Konrad Hurrell and Dan Sarginson battling knee injuries and racing to be fit for the season opener.

Proctor's fellow forward Agnatius Paasi, who had a shoulder reconstruction in the off-season, could be fit by Round 1 but without game time under his belt, is unlikely to be named for the Roosters clash.

Meanwhile, Tyrone Roberts has been added to the Indigenous All Stars side for next weekend's clash against the World All Stars in Newcastle.

While Johnathan Thurston is set to play a major role for the indigenous team, Roberts' injection gives him the chance to reunite his halves partnership with Titans teammate Ashley Taylor as he bids to retain his starting spot in the Gold Coast side.

Roberts joins Taylor, Nathan Peats and Ryan James in the indigenous side, with Jarryd Hayne in the world team.

Hurrell, who was named in the world team, has withdrawn due to his knee injury.
