A WOMAN rescued from a burning home in Sydney has a pair of quick-thinking cops to thank for her lucky escape.
The 36-year-old's screams could be heard coming from inside the south-Sydney home when emergency crews arrived on scene early Monday.
The woman's three family members, who had managed to get out, watched on as police tried to reach the bedroom where smoke and flames were coming from the roof and windows.
When they couldn't get in through the front of the house, a 30-year-old constable ran to the side and ripped off the security bars from the bedroom window.
He and a 40-year-old sergeant then dragged the woman to safety.
All three were taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
The officers have since been released and the woman remains in a stable condition.
