Police probe link between robbery and pursuit

POLICE are investigating the link between an armed robbery in Coffs Harbour's last night and a high speed pursuit which ended with the deployment of road spikes at Kempsey.

Shortly before 830pm three people armed with weapons entered the KFC South outlet on North Boambee Rd and menaced staff into handing over the day's takings.

They were last seen heading north in a silver four wheel drive with a fourth person behind the wheel.

At 11pm police were alerted to a fail to pay at Macksville's Caltex Service Station by a person driving a silver four wheel drive.

During the ensuing pursuit which left the Pacific Highway and went through Smithtown it is reported that speeds exceeded 170kph.

It only ended after road spikes were deployed west of Kempsey
