UPDATE: Two Toowoomba parents will face court next month after police had to break into their car to free their baby girl left locked inside as they shopped.

Police found the baby inside the car Toowoomba Plaza shopping centre on Sunday morning.

The incident made national headlines.

The seven-month-old girl was locked in the car for about 40 minutes.


SUNDAY 11AM: Police have been forced to break into to a car to free a baby girl who was left locked inside as her parents went shopping.

Police were called to Toowoomba Plaza Shopping centre at 10.30 am on this morning when shoppers noticed the seven month old girl asleep and unattended in the vehicle.

Toowoomba police and ambulance services arrived on the scene shortly after before smashing a window and freeing the child.

It is believed the girl was left locked in the car for as long as 40 minutes.

The girls parents were found shopping inside the shopping centre with their other daughter.

Charges have been laid against the parents who will face court next month
