Big Pineapple may become home for terror theme park

A TERRIFYING horror theme park may soon make a permanent home at the Big Pineapple in Woombye.

Details are under wraps until negotiations and contracts are finalised.

However, the company proposing the attraction believes it would bring in thousands of tourists every day.

"It would be a major drawcard for tourism on the Sunshine Coast," Big Pineapple manager Brendan Weatherill said.

"The company is operating in another country and they hope to bring it here to Australia.

"They are looking at sites on the eastern coast of Australia.

"I believe we're one of many sites and we're on the shortlist."

Mr Weatherill said the proposal fitted in with the Big Pineapple's business strategy to lease portions of the site, allowing businesses to utilise the existing infrastructure.

The horror park proposal has the full support of Chris Sun, a Coast filmmaker who makes special effects.

"I think it'll be fantastic," he said.

"Horror's the number one film genre in the world, so to have an attraction with the zombies and the living dead would be great."
