Person trapped in two car crash at Wardell

Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter attended the scene and was able to land in close proximity to the accident.

The helicopter medical team worked alongside local road paramedics to stabilise the male patient before being released from the vehicle.

The male suffered serious injuries to lower limbs, chest and head.

The male was flown to Gold Coast Hospital in a serious but stable condition.


ONE person remains trapped after a two car crash on River Drive in between Wardell and South Ballina.

Emergency services including ambulance and police are on scene.

A NSW Ambulance media spokesperson said three people in total were involved in the crash.

They include a 15-year-old male who has managed to extricate himself from the vehicle and appears to have no major injuries.

Another man who is still in the vehicle due to a pre-existing spinal injury, but is not believed to be trapped.

And a third man who is trapped by compression and confinement.

It's understood the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter is on standby.

The incident was called in at about 5.05pm.
