Person dies in fatal house fire, Yamba

A 66-YEAR-OLD woman is understood to have died in a house fire in Yamba on Saturday night.

At about 11.30pm, emergency services were called to the blaze on Yamba's Carrs Dv.

A body was found inside the dwelling and while the deceased is yet to be formally identified police believe it was the 66-year-old woman who lived at the address.

A brief will be prepared for the coroner

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.

At this stage, the cause of the fire is unknown.
