Paintwork and ability of Lamborghini Gallardo is ecstasy

THIS week's blog is on this "ecstatic" orange 2008 Hamann Lamborghini Gallardo.

This beast is equipped with a mid-rear mounted, 5.0 litre 40 valve 10 cylinder engine that can produce up to 377 kilowatts (512 horsepower) at 8000 rpm and 510 Newton metres of torque (376 pound-feet of torque) at 4250 rpm.

Connected to this engine is a six-speed, single clutch automated manual transmission that sends the power to all-four wheels. If you look behind the steering wheel of this particular Gallardo you will find a shifting paddle on either side, these are so you can shift the transmission manually.

This particular Hamann Gallardo weighs in at about 1600 kilograms.

All of this allows this Lambo to launch from 0-100 kilometres per hour in just under 4 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 320 kilometres per hour (199 miles per hour).

You may not be familiar with the brand "Hamann", but as you may have guessed it is a tuning company. They are based in Germany and tune many different luxury and sports cars including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, BMWs and Range Rovers.

With this particular Gallardo, they have redesigned the front, side and rear bumpers, added a new exhaust system, blacked-out the roof, added a small rear spoiler, orange interior inserts and also aftermarket wheels and tires.

This Gallardo is actually a first generation Gallardo, as the second generation replaced this model in 2009 renamed the LP560-4.

This new model featured new body panels throughout the body, an updated interior, redesigned wheels (although the old ones were still available), a new exhaust system and the engine had a higher displacement and was tuned to produce 412 kilowatts (560 horsepower).

Some other features that this particular Hamann Gallardo is equipped with includes variable intermittent wipers, double-wishbone front and rear independent suspension, a front and rear stabiliser bar, four-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, front and rear ventilated steel brakes, electronic brake force distribution, front sport seats, dual-zone climate controls for the driver and passenger and much more.

You can currently buy a 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo for about $200,000, and for an extra $30,000 (estimate) you can have the Hamann package added.
