Outright defeat has Bulls’ backs to the walls

QUEENSLAND'S chances of making a second straight Sheffield Shield final look over after suffering an 183-run defeat to Tasmania in Hobart yesterday.

The Bulls collapsed to 7-53 on the final day chasing a 333-run target.

Cameron Boyce (65) and Peter Forrest (37 not out) added some respectability but the visitors ended up 149 all out in the Tigers' win.

Tigers left-armer Sam Rainbird (pictured) finished with figures of 4-40 and Andrew Fekete 3-36.

Queensland sits 10 points behind joint leaders South Australia, which drew with Victoria at Adelaide Oval yesterday, and Western Australia, which had a remarkable win over New South Wales at the WACA.

NSW lost its last six wickets for three runs to hand WA a crucial eight-wicket win. Marcus North took 3-9 to leave the home side needing nine runs in its second innings to win.
