Nude by Nature says 'only one product' affected by recall

POPULAR cosmetics firm Nude by Nature has told APN it expects contamination discovered in an ACCC investigation will only affect "a few batches" of a single product, not the rest of its range.

Its "Liquid Mineral Foundation" in various tones is being recalled after the consumer watchdog found evidence of potential contamination.

A spokeswoman from Nude by Nature said the results found by the ACCC did not match its own independent testing.

Those with concerns about the products can telephone 1300 848 831 for a refund or for more information.

Nude by Nature cosmetics recalled over infection fears

CONTAMINATED cosmetics including a foundation, an eye cream and a moisturiser are being recalled by the ACCC for putting users at risk of infection.

The three products - Nude by Nature liquid mineral foundation for various skin tones, Australian Lavender Essentials eye cream and Australian Lavender Essentials "face up" moisturiser - were found to have dangerous levels of "microbial contamination".

The consumer watchdog examined 115 products found in shops and sold online.

The ACCC warned of a high risk threat from the products because they were intended for sensitive areas including eyes and lips.

Australian Lavender Essentials is made at Eumundi on the Sunshine Coast.

The maker of the cosmetics, who declined to give her name, said she had sold a total of three of the recalled products in the past three months, and would no longer make the cosmetics.

She said she had made the products for 21 years without complaint but said "it was possible" there was some contamination in the creams.

ACCC deputy chair Delia Rickard said those with acne, cuts or a weaker immune system could risk infection or catching a disease from the germs in these products.

"Consumers should be able to rely on the safety of products that they apply directly to their skin, which is often on a daily basis over long periods of time," Ms Rickard said.

"If you have one of these recalled cosmetic products, stop using it immediately and return it to the point of sale for a full refund."

Nude by Nature has been sought for a response.
