NRL confirms it will help Tigers with package

RUGBY LEAGUE: Wests Tigers' fans can breathe a little easier following assurances from the NRL the club would not be relocated to Perth and that its wobbly financial future could be secure by the end of the month.

In a statement released by the NRL yesterday its head of club and state services, Tony Crawford, said the current Supreme Court proceedings had no bearing on the NRL's restructure package to return the Wests Tigers (pictured) to a sound financial position.

The Balmain Leagues Club is on the brink of financial collapse after developers Rozelle Village initiated Supreme Court action to call in an $8.7 million loan which would send the Tigers spiralling into bankruptcy.

"Our discussions are well advanced and, if they are concluded successfully, the Wests Tigers' financial future will be secured.

"Those negotiations could be completed as early as the end of the month."
