Now gentlemen prefer brunettes

IT'S official: gentlemen no longer prefer blondes, rating brunettes as not only the sexiest, but the most suitable to introduce to their parents.

As a brunette who has met a couple of parents in her time and always been too dark to even attempt to go blonde, this news is music to my ears.

One of Australia's leading hair product suppliers Head & Shoulders commissioned the study of 1000 Australians recently to explore the influence of hair care, colour and style on men and women.

Some of the more interesting revelations to come out of their study were that 39% of the men and 60% of the women surveyed preferred brown hair.

Aussie blokes believe brunettes make the best lovers (24%) and are the most appropriate to introduce to their parents (38%).

But if your girlfriend is a blonde you might want to watch out, as more than a third (36%) think blondes are most likely to cheat.

The study also found that 91% of the Australians surveyed claimed that hair was a key element to a person's sex appeal, women find dirty hair (79%) and dandruff (64%) two of the biggest turn-offs.

Women are also far less likely than men to pursue a relationship if their potential partner turns up with unclean, unhealthy or unkempt hair.

Our apologies to all the red heads out there (and those of you with pink, green, white and silver hair).

For some reason there was no data supplied on the results for those most exotic and unique of the hair colours.
