No end in sight for Queensland's political purgatory
QUEENSLAND. Majority government one day, uncertainty the next.
And that is the way both Labor and the LNP plan on keeping it, with neither party willing to show their cards ahead of the next parliament sitting next month.
The Billy Gordon issue, which dominated Queensland politics last week, has settled in to a daily question of what Labor plans on doing now it has one less guaranteed vote than is needed to win a confidence motion in the 89-seat unicameral parliament.
The LNP is calling on Labor to offer up "stability" but can't say how it plans on moving forward either, with Deputy Opposition Leader John-Paul Langbroek declining to say if his party would like to see another election, or if it will force the Palaszczuk Government to prove it has the numbers to govern.
"We haven't considered that [moving a no confidence motion] either," he said on Tuesday.
