No captain but Suns confident against Bulldogs

THE Gold Coast is 0-5 without brilliant skipper Gary Ablett in the side.

But vice-captain David Swallow says the team has the confidence to halt that losing streak against the Western Bulldogs in Cairns on Saturday night.

Ablett did not shed any light on the rehab path for his dislocated shoulder yesterday, but Swallow said last weekend's five-point win against Collingwood had provided a big shot in the arm.

"It's obviously not ideal losing the best player in the comp, but the boys will make do," Swallow said. "We've all got to stand up and take on the void that Gary leaves."

Meanwhile, Swans forward Kurt Tippett will miss another week with his ongoing knee complaint.

The big goalkicker has played just five games this season, and needed minor knee surgery after the round 12 match against the Gold Coast.

Sydney will shoot for a club record-equalling 12 straight wins against Carlton on Friday night.
