Nine boys in 3.30am police pursuit on highway

NINE boys, allegedly in two stolen vehicles, are being questioned by police after a pursuit on the Bruce Highway at 3.30am on Thursday.

Police said they responded to reports of two stolen vehicles travelling north along the Bruce Highway at Alligator Creek in the greater Townsville area..

They successfully deployed tyre deflation devices near the Alligator Creek Bridge which managed to slow down one of the vehicles as it continued to travel into Townsville.

A low-speed pursuit ensued before the vehicle came to a stop into a gate on Boundary Street.

Nine boys, who were in the car, were apprehended by police.

The second vehicle was later located on the Bruce Highway at Giru.

Investigations are continuing.
