Newspoll shows Bill Shorten is nudging back support

SUPPORT for Labor leader Bill Shorten has nudged back up, but former Assistant Treasurer Arthur Sinodinos's decision to stand aside from the ministry is yet to dent the Coalition's fortunes.

The latest Newspoll, published in The Australian on Tuesday, showed voter satisfaction with Mr Shorten rose three points to 36%, up from his lowest rating of 33% a fortnight ago.

But it also showed the first ministerial scalp of the Abbott government has not hit Prime Minister Tony Abbott's satisfaction rating, which rose two points to 40%.

The poll also showed only a 1% movement between the major parties, with the ALP up to 36% and the Coalition down one point to 40%.
