New-look Waratahs to face the Rebels
RUGBY UNION: Bernard Foley has returned and Israel Folau moves back to fullback in a new-look Waratahs team to play the Melbourne Rebels.
Responding to NSW's underwhelming 1-3 start to the season, coach Daryl Gibson has made mass changes across his entire team; naming seven new faces in the starting XV on Friday night.
Foley will make his first appearance of the season after missing the first four games with concussion, and the experiment of playing Folau at outside centre has ended.
The Wallaby no. 15 will return to the backfield and Andrew Kellaway has been shifted to the wing.
Jake Gordon has replaced Nick Phipps at halfback and a whole new midfield has been created, with David Horwitz starting at no. 12 and Rob Horne coming in from the wing to no. 13.
In the forwards, Ned Hanigan is a surprise choice at no. 6 to replace the injured Jack Dempsey, ahead of Dean Mumm and Michael Wells, Hanigan has only played lock in his short time in Super Rugby but his line out skills are likely to have got him the nod.
Sekope Kepu has been named after being passed fit, having recovered from the concussion that saw him leave the field in his 100th match at the weekend.
Taqele Naiyarvoro and Cam Clark have been added to the Waratahs bench.
