New clues reignite unsolved murder case

FRESH clues in the unsolved murder of a young NSW woman more than 20 years ago have sent police on the hunt for past owners of a car which could be linked to the killing.

A mystery, dark blue Datsun Stanza, being examined by detectives, is believed to have been seen at the Coolah Motel where 20-year-old Penny Hill was attacked on July 8, 1991.

Initial investigations had suggested a Commodore may have been involved and police hoped the new information could spark a memory for those living in the area at the time.

There have been two inquests into Penny's death and many males have provided DNA samples to be compared with a profile found in the motel room where Penny was staying but no arrests have been made.

Penny was found unconscious with severe head injuries near the gate of the motel and died two weeks later at a Newcastle hospital.

Anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
